    In just over one month, fireworks will be shot off from Hamerschlag Hall, bands will be battling on campus, chili will be cooked in a massive competition, and a dance will be held for students and alumni. These are just a few of the many events planned for this year’s Homecoming celebration.

    Fire Alarm

    A fire alarm sounded in Doherty Hall on the building’s fourth floor. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire arrived and found the cause to be a contractor drilling and cutting on the fourth floor. They cleared the area and reset the alarm.

  • Scotty brings out spirit around campus

    School spirit may be in for a transformation, all at the hands of one small Scottie dog.

    Last Tuesday, Skibo Gymnasium was filled with students acting like dogs. The students were auditioning to play Scotty, Carnegie Mellon’s official mascot, and wear the official mascot costume.

  • Heinz professor charged with drunken driving multiple times

    Heinz School of Public Policy and Management adjunct professor Jeffrey Hunker was charged with drunken driving three times in eight days between Aug. 17 and 25.

    Hunker entered a rehabilitation facility in Virginia early last week where he will stay for 28 days, according to a statement from his lawyer in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

    A Woodlawn Apartments resident called University Police reporting excessive noise coming from Spirit House. University Police arrived on the scene and found about 45 students outside. University Police urged the group to quiet down and the group quickly dispersed.
