  • Waffle Shop to close in August

    The Waffle Shop, located at 124 South Highland Ave., has become a unique part of the Pittsburgh arts community over the past four years. The Waffle Shop and the programs it facilitates will continue to operate through the summer. However, the popular combination art project and restaurant will close its doors on Aug. 1.

  • Students play poker at SIG recruitment event

    Instead of a classroom, a poker hall could be found in room 6115 of the Gates Hillman Complex on Thursday night. Carnegie Mellon students were treated to a poker tournament and free dinner courtesy of Susquehanna International Group (SIG), an international trading and investment firm.

  • VP candidates debate policy

    The candidates for Vice President for Organizations (VPO) and Vice President for Finance (VPF) debated in Rashid Auditorium last Tuesday. The debates, which were more lightly attended than Monday’s student body president and vice president debates, were held by the Elections Board and The Tartan. WRCT and cmuTV sponsored and broadcast the debates.

  • Cosplayers invade Downtown

    Over 3,000 people converged at the Wyndham Grand hotel in downtown Pittsburgh when it hosted Tekkoshocon X, a Japanese culture convention, last Wednesday to Sunday. Many participants, known as cosplayers, came in hand-crafted costumes as anti-zombie commandos, school girls, wizards, aliens, knights, monsters, and more.
