University establishes new Office of Title IX Initiatives
Title IX, a section of the 1972 Education Amendments, mandates that all educational institutions receiving federal funds treat male and female students equally. Although Title IX covers all aspects of higher education — everything from coursework to athletics — the national focus has recently shifted to Title IX in the context of sexual assault and relationship violence.

Sept. 4, 2015University Police responded to the intersection of Tech and Frew Streets after a disoriented male fell off of his bicycle. Officers determined that the man, who was not a Carnegie Mellon affiliate, was intoxicated. Medical attention was provided and the man was cited for public intoxication.

Continuing the relationship established earlier this year, Uber donated $5.5 million to Carnegie Mellon last week. The gift will be used to hire a new faculty chair and three new fellowships in robotics.
