    The No. 7-ranked men’s soccer team put on a goal-scoring showcase on the back of junior forward Max Tassano’s three goals and one assist, beating the Bethany College Bison 6–2. After the victory, the Tartans’ record sits at 7–1, having won five games straight. The Bison’s record, meanwhile, fell to 1–6.

    In high school fashion, the Tartans football team took the field on Friday night in front of a rowdy crowd, unified in the theme of “whiting out” at Gesling Stadium. The Tartans took on the Catholic University Cardinals.

    I am insurmountably thankful for Major League Baseball’s new Wild Card one-game playoff; this National League Wild Card race would not be a story without it. The Atlanta Braves are sitting pretty — three-and-a-half games up on the field — and without any of the other teams making a strong push, that lead should feel comfortable.

    The 2012 Olympic games saw the U.S. bounce back from its 2008 gold medal count of 36, second to China’s 51.
