    U.S. airstrike kills top ISIS commander

    WASHINGTON — This week, Pentagon officials reported that a top commander of the Islamic state, Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, was killed by American Special Operations forces in Syria. Initial plans to capture Qaduli in a vehicle as he was being followed by helicopters changed for unknown reasons, and his vehicle was fired upon instead.
