  • Stats and baseball go hand in hand

    The Carnegie Mellon University Baseball Analytics Workshop was held last Saturday, April 7. It was the first installment in what Carnegie Mellon’s Department of Statistics & Data Science hopes to be a series of workshops that deal with sports analytics. Around 60 participants of all ages gathered to learn some of baseball statisticians’ tools of the trade.

  • Penguins end slump and look ready for playoff run

    The Pittsburgh Penguins are hot, even after a recent streak of three bad games. Before the three losses, the Pens won six in a row, beating tough, potential playoff teams like the Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Penguins put up four or more goals in five of those six wins and looked as dominant as they ever have.

  • Tartans send seniors off with Case Western victory

    The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team ended its season on a high note with a big 72–63 win against their University Athletic Association (UAA) rivals, the Case Western Reserve University Spartans. The Tartans finish the season going 7–18 and 3–11 in conference play. After the Spartans’ loss, they finished with a 12–13 record, going 6–8 in conference.
