Social networking sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, have become a big part of teenagers’ and college students’ lives. It is one of the main ways of keeping in touch and communicating with each other. Twitter, a more recent social networking site, is steadily gaining popularity since its launch in 2006. Unlike Facebook or MySpace, Twitter attracts a significantly older age group. Here are some statistics about Twitter:

The largest age group on Twitter: 35–49

Percent of daily unique visitors between the ages if 35 and 49: 41.7

Number of teenagers visiting Twitter daily: 250,000

Percent of users accessing Twitter from a work place: 62

Percent of growth of Twitter users from 2008 to 2009: 1382
