Today, Carnegie Mellon welcomes the Class of 2012 into its midst as all undergraduates begin another year of classes. The university has a diverse group of people to meet, places to see, and things to do. Here is a look at the Carnegie Mellon world at the end of last year:

Class of 2011 average score on the math section of the SAT: 730
Total number of undergraduate students enrolled: 5645
Total number of graduate students enrolled: 3512
Male-to-female ratio among undergraduate students: 3:2
Percentage of campus involved in Greek life: 17
Percentage of students from out of state: 77
Percentage of students in the Class of 2008 who received engineering degrees: 30
