Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC) had its transition meeting last week, introducing 14 new members to the organization. These include rising sophomores Josh Eickmeier, Anthony Ruzga, Angelo Morales, Kelly Hart, Brooke Loar, Dan Lavallee, Caroline Size and Kate Smith; and rising juniors Jason Huber, Sara Andrews, Casey Garth, Christine Steffa, Eleonore Valencia, and Adam Klein.
Scholar-athletes in all years represent the 17 varsity programs on campus and are currently working to improve communication between the athletics department, athletes, and the community at large.
The first new member meeting included a presentation and a leadership symposium, in part to prepare members for SAAC’s upcoming community service field day, which takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Cut.
The event features a variety of sports for children aged 5 to 12 years, including obstacle courses, relay races, capture the flag, a water balloon toss and more. Food and refreshments will be provided.
Editor’s note: Casey Garth is a junior staffwriter for The Tartan.
