Unlike last year, it appears that buyers have not yet done as much shopping for the holidays as expected. Although the economy has taken a toll on consumer buying, reports show that consumers are eager to spend big bucks with the Black Friday sales approaching. It generally appears that everyone is waiting until prices drop to do damage at the malls. Here are some statistics about the shopping season ahead:
Percentage of consumers planning to shop Nov. 28: 26
Percentage of Black Friday shoppers looking to buy TVs, DVD players, and other electronics: 85
Percentage of consumers that have begun holiday shopping: 38
Percentage of shoppers purchasing marked-down clothing: 82
Percentage of customers who will finish shopping online: 44
