Statistically Speaking
News |
This month is the fifth annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, designed by the National Cybersecurity Division (NCSD) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to educate all citizens on cyber threats and the most effective ways to safeguard themselves at home, work, and school. The NCSD emphasizes practicing cybersecurity not only during this month but every day of the year. Here are some Internet safety statistics:
Percentage of Facebook users who believe that Facebook saves and stores their passwords after they use the Email Friend Finder: 20
Percentage of online users who have been infected with spyware: 55
Percentage of all teenagers with Internet access who have reported being bullied online during 2008: 40
Percentage of parents who claim to be “in the know” about their kids’ social networking habits: 15
